What we don't buy

Worth checking before you pack anything — it saves a round trip, and it is most of the reason an offer comes back lower than someone expected.

  • Anything opened, unsealed or repackaged — a broken seal ends it, whatever the date says
  • Expired boxes, and boxes within about three months of expiring
  • Insulin, Ozempic and other prescription medications — case by case, never priced sight unseen
  • Supplies paid for by Medicare, Medicaid or a similar program
  • Lancets, control solution and meters on their own

Expiration date drives the price more than anything else: nine or more months of dating earns the most, and the value falls steadily as that date approaches. How much are diabetic test strips? has the real ranges, and Is it legal to sell diabetic test strips? covers the Medicare and Medicaid exception in full.

Not sure which category yours falls into?

Send one photo of the box and its expiration date. You'll get a number back the same day, or a straight answer about why it doesn't qualify. No obligation either way.
